Google AI Mode now works with Canva, YouTube Music, and Instacart

Google is pushing AI Mode deeper into everyday tasks with three new app integrations. As reported by Engadget, Canva, YouTube Music, and Instacart are now connected to AI Mode in Google Search, rolling out this week in the US.

The concept is straightforward: instead of opening a separate app or switching to Gemini, you can get things done directly inside Search. Ask for a playlist, a party flyer, or a grocery list, and the AI handles the rest through whichever connected service fits the job.

This is part of a broader push Google calls Personal Intelligence, which is Gemini’s ability to pull in information from your other apps and use it to shape responses. It was added to AI Mode at the start of this year, and Google has been steadily expanding what it can do throughout 2026. The idea is that AI becomes more useful when it knows your context, like what events you have coming up, rather than treating every request as if it came from a blank slate.

Here is what each new integration actually does:

  • YouTube Music: Tell AI Mode what mood or genre you want, and it will generate a playlist and drop it directly into the chat. You can then open it straight in the YouTube Music app.
  • Canva: Ask the AI to create design templates, like flyers for an event. It can pull details from your Google Calendar to make the output more relevant.
  • Instacart: Add ingredients or grocery items to your Instacart cart through the chat. If you have something like a BBQ saved in your calendar, it will factor that in when putting together your shopping list.

Google says more partner integrations are in the works, though it has not named any specific apps yet.

The timing fits a pattern. A few months ago, Google started letting AI Mode pull from Reddit to surface first-hand accounts in its answers. At I/O 2026, the company said Search results overall would get smarter. Google also launched a new Intelligent Search Box that expands to handle more complex queries and accepts videos, images, files, and Chrome tabs as inputs, not just text.

What Google is building here is a version of Search that acts more like an assistant with memory and reach, one that knows your schedule, your preferences, and which apps you use. Whether people actually connect their accounts and trust it with that level of access is a different question, but the infrastructure is clearly being put in place.
