Google DeepMind rolls out Lyria 3 Pro for longer structured AI music tracks

March 26, 2026
Lyria 3 Pro

Google DeepMind just made its AI music tools a lot more useful for actual song creation. With the arrival of Lyria 3 Pro, creators can now generate tracks that stretch up to three minutes and follow real musical structure instead of short clips. 🤖

What changed with Lyria 3 Pro

The new model brings structural awareness that lets users specify parts of a song in their prompts. You can ask for an intro that builds energy, a catchy chorus, or a bridge that shifts mood, and the output hangs together better than before. Lyria 3 Pro improves on the prior version that capped at around 30 seconds, giving musicians and video makers longer material to work with right away.

Access opens up in several places. Developers and enterprises reach it through Vertex AI in public preview, Google AI Studio and the Gemini API. Everyday users find it inside the Gemini app for paid subscribers, while video editors use it directly in Google Vids. Google also folded the technology into ProducerAI, the music production platform it brought in recently, so professionals get tighter workflow integration.

Safety and responsibility measures built in

Google worked with musicians during development to shape guardrails and avoid direct artist mimicry. Prompts that name an artist pull only broad inspiration rather than cloning a voice or style. Every track carries an imperceptible SynthID watermark developed by Google DeepMind so listeners and platforms can identify AI-generated audio even after edits or compression. This approach aligns with wider industry conversations about ethical AI use in music, as seen in ongoing discussions around licensing and transparency.

The model supports text prompts, image inputs for mood, custom lyrics and a range of genres. Output quality aims for high fidelity with natural transitions, though results still need human review to match exact creative intent.

Why the timing matters for creators

Music production keeps shifting toward faster iteration. Lyria 3 Pro lets solo creators sketch full song ideas quickly or add custom audio to videos without licensing hurdles for background tracks. At the same time, larger teams can experiment at scale inside enterprise tools. The move also reflects broader trends where AI assists rather than replaces human creativity in the studio. Whether you build short social clips or longer pieces, the expanded length and control give more room to play.

Will longer AI tracks change how independent artists prototype ideas? Early signs point to faster workflows and fresh experimentation across genres. source
