Smart glasses have quietly become one of the most competitive product categories in tech. After years of false starts, the combination of smaller chips, better microphones, and genuinely useful AI assistants has finally made the category work. Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses have sold well enough to prove there’s a real market here, and now the company is pushing further.
Meta has announced Meta Glasses, a new line of AI-powered eyewear built in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the company behind Ray-Ban, Oakley, and LensCrafters, among others. The glasses start at $299 and are available now across several retailers.
This is not just an incremental update to Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Meta is positioning this as a distinct product line with its own frame styles, color options, and identity, while running the same AI features that have made its existing glasses popular.
Three frame styles, including a Kylie Jenner collaboration
Meta Glasses launch with three frame options:
- Meta Adventurer – A classic rectangle shape, available in Standard and Large sizes
- Meta Fury – A bolder frame designed to make more of a visual statement
- Meta Glasses by Kylie – A slim oval frame designed with Kylie Jenner, based on her personal style preferences
Across these three styles, Meta is offering 26 combinations of colors and lens types at launch. The glasses also support prescription lenses, which matters a lot for a product people are expected to wear all day. The frames include three-way adjustable nose pads for a more customized fit.
What the glasses actually do
The core feature set matches what Meta has built into its Ray-Ban and Oakley glasses, but with one key addition: Meta Glasses are the first in the lineup to launch with Meta AI powered by Muse Spark, a new model from Meta Superintelligence Labs. That same model is also rolling out to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses in the US and Canada.
Here’s what every pair of Meta Glasses includes:
- A dedicated action button to trigger Meta AI or a custom shortcut
- Open-ear speakers for calls, music, and podcasts
- A multi-mic array with wind noise reduction for clearer voice input
- A built-in camera for hands-free photos and video
- Over 8 hours of battery life
- A portable charging case that adds up to 40 hours of extra battery
The AI assistant can answer general questions, help you identify what you’re looking at through the camera, and handle calendar or scheduling tasks through voice. Meta says the new Muse Spark model makes the assistant smarter at understanding visual context and giving relevant local recommendations.
New software features rolling out now and soon
Meta is also adding new software features across its glasses lineup. One called dynamic photo is available now. It automatically captures multiple frames when you take a shot and suggests the best one, while still letting you pick your own favorite to share.
Pedestrian turn-by-turn navigation is coming soon to glasses without a display, which is a meaningful addition for hands-free use while walking. Meta is also expanding live translation to 14 new languages, including Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, and Korean.
Where to buy
Meta Glasses are available starting today in several countries through:
- Meta.com
- Best Buy
- Amazon
- LensCrafters
- Sunglass Hut
- Select other retailers
Meta’s physical retail stores, called Meta Labs, also carry the glasses. Prescription lens availability depends on the retailer. Full availability details are on the product pages at Meta.com.
At $299, Meta is pricing this line above the entry-level Ray-Ban Meta glasses while keeping it within reach for consumers who want something more design-forward. The EssilorLuxottica partnership gives Meta access to established eyewear retail and manufacturing expertise, which has clearly shaped both the quality of the frames and the distribution reach from day one.
