Forty-five million docs, decks, and designs created inside Claude. That number tells you something about how quickly people are willing to replace their usual tools when something better is sitting in the same tab. Anthropic is now betting that the same instinct applies to business intelligence and motion graphics, two categories that have historically required dedicated software, a specialist, or a support ticket.
As announced on October 8, 2026, Claude now has two new capabilities in beta: Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion. At the same time, Claude Docs, Slides, and Design are out of beta and available on every plan, including Free.
Claude Dashboards: plain-language queries on live company data
Claude Dashboards connects directly to data warehouses including Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, and Snowflake, plus CRM tools like Salesforce. You ask a question in plain English, Claude writes the query, pulls the results, and builds a dashboard that refreshes as the underlying data changes.
The transparency feature is worth noting. Every chart shows the SQL query behind it, so you’re not just trusting a number, you can actually see where it came from. That matters in a business context where someone is going to ask “how did you get that?” in a meeting.
This is not a replacement for tools like Looker, Mixpanel, or Tableau. Anthropic is positioning it as complementary, and the product reflects that. You can push a Claude dashboard directly to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma for deeper analysis. Looker, monday.com, and Tableau integrations are coming. So the workflow is: quick exploratory question in Claude, then hand it off to your BI stack if you need more. That’s a reasonable division of labor.
Claude Dashboards is in beta on paid plans. Enterprise admins have it off by default and can enable it in Organization settings.
Claude Motion: animated explainers built as editable code
Claude Motion is the more interesting product from a technical standpoint. You describe what you want, and Claude generates an animation that plays like a short video. The output is downloadable as an MP4. But it’s built as code, so every word, number, chart, and timing value is editable.
Critically, it does not use a video generation model. There’s no generated footage, no AI-created people. That’s a deliberate choice, and it separates Claude Motion from tools like HeyGen, Runway, or Luma AI, which are in the handoff list for when you want to take the animation further. Anthropic is clearly trying to own the “explain your own work” use case, not compete with generative video.
Use cases include quarterly report explainers for all-hands meetings, animated charts for board decks, and product walkthroughs for customer onboarding. Claude Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans.
What’s changed in Docs, Slides, and Design
The graduation from beta comes with a meaningful feature list:
- CMEK support and admin control over artifact templates for enterprise deployments
- Real-time collaboration so teams and Claude can work in the same doc, deck, or design
- External sharing, subject to admin permissions
- PowerPoint and PDF exports that preserve formatting, plus direct export to Google Slides as editable files
- Mobile editing in the Claude app
Claude Design is also being consolidated. It started at its own URL and is now being folded into the main Claude interface. The standalone site stays live until December 14, giving teams time to migrate their design systems. Chats and comments from the standalone version will not carry over, so users should export anything they need before the cutoff.
Why this matters beyond the feature list
Anthropic is building toward a general-purpose work tool, not just a chat interface. Each addition, from Docs to Dashboards, reduces the number of context switches a knowledge worker makes in a day. That’s the same bet Microsoft is making with Copilot inside Office, and Google is making with Gemini inside Workspace.
But Claude’s approach is to meet you in the conversation first, then connect to the tools you already use. The Dashboards integrations and Motion export partners suggest Anthropic isn’t trying to replace your stack, just become the front door to it. Whether that holds as the product matures is a real question. For now, if your team is already on a paid Claude plan, both betas are worth testing.
